RightsCase, eQualit.ie’s innovative case management system was designed specifically with the advocates needs in mind. Created for organisations that investigate, record and prepare cases for lobbying and future litigation. It is now being used by dozens of human rights organisations around the world.
RightsCase helps you to securely record, collate and analyse information and evidence of past and ongoing human rights violations. RightsCase allows you to access meaningful statistics through visualisations of collated data.
RightsCase is fully open-source and can be adapted entirely to your organisation's needs. It features extensive statistics and analytical tools including data visualisation, tabulated reporting, mapping and managerial overview of data entry activities. The interface replicates the information gathering and analysis processes of organisations that document rights violations.
RightsCase can be either downloaded free of charge or hosted on equalit.ie's secure servers. Downloaded software can be set up on a personal computer, office network or an online provider. Hosting RightsCase with equalit.ie will provide you with a layered security solution including encrypted connections to the servers, reverse SSL authentication, encrypted storage and off-site backup, server maintenance and upgrades.

- We are not a human rights NGO, can we still use RightsCase?
Yes. RightsCase can be used by anyone requiring case management functionality. Its structure and interface are built to replicate the process of recording information about a series of events and associated people. Since the tool is open source it is quite easy to modify and rename database fields according to your requirements.
- Can we modify any part of RightCase to suit our particular requirements?
Yes. RightsCase can me modified to your particular needs. This can be done by eQualit.ie or any qualified programmer, since it is an open source tool. Remeber that RightsCase us licensed under standard GPL software agreements which is inherited on any of your modifications.
- Will we be able to access other people's data and will they see ours?
Every organisation will use their own version of RightsCase. It is also possile for several organisations to share one RightsCase database and denominate access according to user groups. A manager will be able to oversee the entire database whilst no individual group member will be able to access data belonging to a different group.
- What are the advantages of hosting RightsCase with eQualit.ie?
We have servers set up especially for hosting RightsCase with daily backup and customised security configurations. We will ensure that the backend is always updated against any software vulnerabilities, and be able to provide quick support and troubleshooting. Our security options feature an encrypted communications channel with RightsCase as well as the ability to nominate which computers will have access to the server at all.
- Will eQualit.ie have access to our data if we host with you?
Yes. As server administrators we can get access to any data stored on our systems. This is true not only for RightsCase but any of your email or hosted database systems. However we offer a confidentiality agreement or happily sign one of yours. Furthermore our server filesystems are encrypted meaning that no one else will have access to them. We have secure hosting facilities for many years to human rights groups and we have never disclosed, lost or leaked their information.
- But can't we download and run it ourselves for free?
Yes. We aim our projects to benefit as many people as possible, therefore the source code is available for free download. You will need to set up your own LAMP server and follow instructions to get RightsCase running on it. All administrative and maintenance task are your own responsibility.

RightsCase is an open-source tool built on the Drupal platform. It requires the latest versions of Apache (with modRewrite and modSSL enabled), MySQL and PHP5 running on the server. Once you have this set-up and configured please synchronise with our repository on Github.
